HISTORY AND PRESENTATION OF GIVAA

The International Group of Asian-African Volunteers (GIVAA), known in French as Groupe International des Volontaires Asiatiques-Africains, is an international socio-humanitarian organization, non-profit, and founded on the core values of love, service, and altruism.

Originally known as “Hope of the Congo,” GIVAA was born from a desire to strengthen solidarity between the peoples of Asia and Africa through concrete actions in cooperation and human development.

Aware of the social, economic, and cultural challenges shared by these two continents, the group has dedicated itself to promoting mutual assistance and sustainable partnership in the service of common progress.

Origins and Foundation of GIVAA

The organization officially adopted the name GIVAA Asia-Africa on March 3, 2012, during an exchange visit to Tokyo, Japan, organized by the Japan Africa Economic and Culture Association.
The event, held in a local hotel in Tokyo, gathered humanitarians, peace ambassadors, diplomats, media representatives, NGO leaders, and private companies such as Hobby World Marine (a specialist in fishing and tourism) and EIKEN: Import and Export.
During that meeting, a partnership agreement was signed between the parties, marking the beginning of a new era of cooperation between Asian and African actors.

The second official presentation of GIVAA took place on December 25, 2016, at the Seiyaku Building Conference Hall in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
The event was organized by World Oka the World Federation of Korean Traders Overseas and gathered more than 200 participants, including diplomats, NGO leaders, entrepreneurs, and international experts.

At the end of the meeting, two key bodies were established:

  • The Council of Humanitarian Advisors (CCH), responsible for guiding GIVAA’s social and humanitarian initiatives.

  • The Council of Partner NGOs (CPONG), bringing together organizations that work alongside GIVAA in the implementation of field projects.

These councils form the advisory and strategic backbone of GIVAA, ensuring the continuity and coherence of its mission across nations.

Legal Recognition

On October 25, 2018, GIVAA was officially recognized and registered in the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) under the authority of the Ministry of the Interior, registration number n°412/18/MID/DBZV/SG/DDAT/SR.
This recognition marked a major milestone in the formal establishment of its operations on the African continent.

The organization was later published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Congo on December 6, 2018, confirming its legal status as a neutral, non-profit socio-humanitarian organization of general interest.

GIVAA maintains two main locations:

  • Its African Headquarters in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo,

  • And its International Liaison Center in Tokyo, Japan.

This dual presence reflects GIVAA’s purpose — to serve as a bridge between continents, fostering human, economic, and cultural exchange between Asia and Africa.

GIVAA’s vision is rooted in a simple yet universal ideal: a world where solidarity transcends borders.
Its core values love, service, altruism, and cooperation guide every action and project it undertakes.
